How to upload a document in Carta Loan Ops

The Documents tab shows the loan's files organized into folders, managed through Box and embedded directly in-app. Folders are created automatically when a loan is set up.

Standard folders include:

  • Core Documents

  • Memos

  • Lender Distributions

  • Other Documents

  • Participation Agreements

  • Post-Closing Deliverables

  • Reporting Requirements

To upload a file: open the target folder, then drag and drop files directly into it, or use the upload button. Multiple files can be uploaded at once.

Common document types stored here include:

  • Credit Agreements

  • Amendments

  • Promissory Notes

  • Compliance Certificates

  • Fee Letters

  • Wire Instructions

  • Lender Registers

  • Distribution Memos

The document appears in the Documents tab, organized by type.

Open any folder in the Documents tab to see its files. Select a file name to preview it in-app, or download it to your computer.

How to create a task

Tasks in Carta Loan Operations are generated automatically based on loan activity — you do not create them manually. Common task types include confirming a memo, funding an advance, recording a borrower payment, and delivering compliance documents. Tasks appear in the Tasks tab and are assigned to team members at your firm.

Each task has one of four statuses:

  • Upcoming: Due in more than 7 days.

  • Outstanding: Due within the next 7 days.

  • Overdue: Past the due date and not yet completed.

How to complete or update a task

  1. Open the Tasks tab and select the task.

  2. Update the status, add notes, or attach a related document.

  3. Select Mark Complete when the task is done.

Completed tasks remain in the task history so you have a full record of when each obligation was fulfilled.
