How to manage your payment schedule in Carta Loan Ops
The payment schedule shows every interest, principal, and fee obligation for a loan, organized by due date. Use this guide to view, filter, and track payment obligations.
How to find the payment schedule
- Navigate to the Loans page and select the loan you want to view.
- Select the Payments tab, then select Payment Schedule in the left panel.
The schedule lists every upcoming and past obligation for that loan, including interest, principal, and fee payments.
How to filter the schedule
Use the Lender and Structure dropdowns at the top of the Payment Schedule to filter by lender or structure. Select the Allocations checkbox to see how each payment is split across lenders.
How to understand payment statuses
Payment obligations in the schedule have one of three statuses:
Scheduled: The payment is upcoming and not yet due.
Pending: The payment is due but has not yet been recorded as received.
Paid: The payment has been confirmed as received.
Memos in the Borrower Payments section use a separate status flow: Awaiting Confirmation → Awaiting Payment → Partially Paid → Paid. A memo must be confirmed before it can be marked as paid.
PIK (payment-in-kind) obligations appear alongside cash obligations in the same view. You can see both deferred and cash amounts in a single schedule.
How to mark a payment as paid
Navigate to the loan and select the Payments tab.
Select Activity from the left panel within the Payments tab.
Select Record Payment at the top of the Borrower Payments table.
Enter the payment date, amount, and a name for the transaction (defaults to "Payment Received") → then select Next.
In the Allocate Payment step, select the memo(s) to pay and enter the amount allocated to each → select Submit.
When the applied amount fully covers a memo, its status changes to Paid. A partial payment shows Partially Paid. Once submitted, the allocation cannot be edited — to correct it, you would need to recall the memo first.
Select Save to record the payment. Once fully reconciled, the obligation status updates to Paid.
Overdue payments
When an interest or principal obligation passes its due date without being recorded, it remains in Pending status. There is no automatic status change. To find past-due obligations, scroll through the payment schedule to identify items with past due dates. Fees have a separate Overdue status that appears when a fee is past its due date and unpaid.
